Minnie Driver has revealed that it was co-star Hilary Swank that helped Minnie Driver get her head around the Massachusetts accent required for her new movie Conviction.

driver stars alongside Swank and Sam Rockwell in Conviction, the real life story of Betty Anne Waters who put herself through law school to help her brother who was wrongfully convicted of murder.

Speaking to the Press Association the actress said: "Hilary's brilliant so we sort of kept each other going. [It was] hard, very, very hard indeed," she confessed.

"I [also] had an amazing dialect coach and I couldn't have done it without her."

In the movie Driver takes on the role of Betty Anne's friend Abra Rice in the film and she had nothing but praise for the story.

"It's an amazing film about faith and love and the changes we need to make in the justice system, it's a very prevalent, amazing movie."

It's been a busy year for the actress as she has mixed TV parts with movie roles as she worked on BBC show The Deep and as well as Barney's Version for the big screen.

Driver is currently filming Hunky Dory.
