Matthew Vaughn will not be directing the sequel to X-Men: First Class.
Vaughn was set to return to the director's chair for X-Men: Days of Future Past after the success of First Class back in the summer of 2011.
According to Deadline Bryan Singer, who directed X-Men and X2, is rumoured to be 20st Century Fox's first choice to replace him.
Vaughn has had a hand in penning the script for the new movie and will also serve as a producer on the project.
The movie took the franchise all the way back to the beginning when the likes of Professor X and Magneto were just getting to grips with their powers.
James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence are all expected to reprise their roles when filming finally gets underway.
The movie had been expected to hit the big screen in summer 2014 but that release date may now be in jeopardy.
