Matthew Vaughn thinks that 'Deadpool 3' will "save" the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The 52-year-old director is convinced that the upcoming superhero film that will feature Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be the "jolt" that revives Marvel's fortunes after recent disappointments at the box office.
Vaughn – who has previous in the genre after directing the 2011 movie 'X-Men: First Class' – told BroBible's 'Post Credit' podcast: "The few snippets that I know about 'Deadpool vs. Wolverine' – or 'Wolverine vs. Deadpool', I'm sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak – are unbelievable.
"That's going to be the jolt... the Marvel Universe is about to have a jolt of them and it's going to bring that body back to life... I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel Universe."
The 'Argylle' filmmaker added: "I'm a genuine fan of the X-Men, all I want is for the movies to be as good as they should be."
'Deadpool 3' wrapped filming last week ahead of its release this summer and Ryan was in tears as he thanked the cast and crew for battling "wind, rain and strikes" during production, although he didn't miss the chance to poke fun at co-star Hugh Jackman.
The 47-year-old star, who is to reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, captioned his post on the social media site: "The suit hides blood. Also sweat… But today, with Deadpool wrapping, it’s mostly tears.
"A giant and forever thanks to the cast and crew of our film who battled wind, rain, strikes and @thehughjackman ... all under the stalwart leadership of @slevydirect (sic)"
