To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the European Day of Languages, education charity FILMCLUB has curated a special selection of films from the non-English speaking world to show kids that films from France, Spain, South Africa and even Iceland have at least as much to offer as those from the UK or Hollywood.
From Southern Hemisphere gangland thriller Tsotsi to the beautiful Japanese noir of Stray Dogs, FILMCLUB is bringing the best of world cinema to kids all across the country and enabling them to access stories from cultures that they may have never experienced, or even realized existed.
Other great films in the season include Norwegian police thriller Insomnia, the didactic German take on the pervasive power of Fascism The Wave and the intricately plotted French murder mystery Tell No One.
With so much to enjoy outside of the English speaking blockbusters that dominate cinema screens up and down the country, the ‘Different Language, Same Thrills’ season is a great chance to explore a huge range of movies and experience what the rest of then world has to offer and gain some different perspectives on a host of issues.
