To celebrate the recent release of the fantastic Toy Story 3, the children’s charity and experts in film for young people Filmclub, is dedicating its Season of the Week to toys on the silver screen with a selection of movies to enchant film fans of all ages.
Speaking about the magic of toys on screen Academy-Award winning filmmaker Terry Gilliam (Monty Python, Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassis) recently told Filmclub members what he loved about the Toy Story films; "What is so good is all the characters all the toys - are so believable - Pixar seem to understand toys and how they think, how they react."
Filmclub’s toy themed Season of the Week features a host of weird, wacky and wonderful pint size heroes and heroines from animated tales such as The Forgotten Toys, and Disney classic Pinnoccio, to the action packed blockbuster Small Soldiers and Oscar-winning comedy classic You Can’t Take It With You.
Filmclub has also picked some spookier films for an older audience, including the fun yet darkly disturbing Toys starring comedian Robin Williams, and the beautifully eerie AI: Artificial Intelligence from director Steven Speilberg - both of which go to prove that no-matter what age, no-one is too grown up to enjoy toys.
