James Bond

James Bond

Since news of an alleged Russian "spy ring" was recently uncovered in the US the world has been gripped by spy fever, and this week FilmClub – the after-school initiative and experts in films for young people - has dedicated its Season of the Week to a story that could have indeed, come straight from a spy movie.

FilmClub's spy themed season has selected some of the greatest action packed espionage features to grace the big screen, from black and white classics such as Hitchcocks The 39 Steps (1935) and the political thriller The Manchurian Candidate (1962) to the world's most famous spy - James Bond - in his first outing in Dr. No (1962).

For younger viewers, Agent Cody Banks (2003) and Spy Kids (2001) provide plenty of spy related antics, and Our Man Flint (1966) takes a humorous look at the spy story.

More adventurous viewers are invited to get swept up in silent spy thriller Spione (1928) or discover Michael Caine's sterling performance in Funeral in Berlin (1966)

Whether looking for a mean and moody thriller or an action packed adventure, thrill seekers can rest assured that this
