This week sees G.I Joe: Rise of the Cobra, the last big budget blockbuster of the summer, blasts onto the big screen.
Based on the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy franchise the movie is in the capable hands of Stephen Sommers, who brought us The Mummy so he knows his way around a blockbuster movie.
From the Central Asian mountains to the deserts of Egypt, through the crowded streets of Paris to beneath the ice cap of the North Pole, the elite team of operatives known as G.I. Joe journeys on a non-stop adventure as they use the latest in next-generation spy technology and military equipment to fight the duplicitous arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization from plunging the world into chaos.

Duke - Channing Tatum
Real name Conrad S. Hauser Duke is a core character to the G.I. Joe team and in second in command after Hawk.
Coming from St. Louis, Missouri he came top of his class at Fort Benning before going on to train with the Special Forces.
He is a guy who’s incredibly loyal to his friends, who will do anything for them. He’ll do anything for his country. He’s a born leader.
Hawk - Dennis Quaid
Major General Clayton M. Abernathy, code name Hawk, is the team leader. Hailing from a wealthy family this allowed him to attend West Point where he graduated top of his class.
He’s a hardened, tough battle veteran who’s seen a lot of missions and a lot of action. And he’s a guy who sees the world through a very simple prism, which is, ‘Get the bad guys, and keep your team together.
Snake Eyes - Ray Park
Holding the rank of Army Sergeant First Class Snake-Eyes is quiet in his movements and is a swift and deadly master of multiple martial arts. He is an expert in the use of the ninjato and trench knives.
Snake-Eyes usually wears a black "military ninja" bodysuit, along with a balaclava and visor to cover his face, which was disfigured in a helicopter explosion which also left him nearly completely mute.
Since then, Snake-Eyes has had extensive plastic surgery to repair the damage to his face.
Scarlett - Rachel Nichols
Real name Shana M. O'Hara and holds the rank of Masters Sergeant. She graduated college at age twelve and became the team's intelligence expert.
Other members of the team include Ripcord, Heavy Duty, Breaker, and Cover Girl played by Marlon Wayans, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui and Karolina Kurkova.

Destro - Christopher Eccleston
Destro is a weapons designer and founder of the Military Armament Research Syndicate (MARS), the largest manufacturer of state-of-the-art weaponry.
To Destro, war is man's most natural state and he provides high-tech arms to any side able to meet his price and will incite war where it does not exist.
He cannot understand why the G.I Joe team waste their skills and expertise in trying to keep peace.
The Baroness - Sienna Miller
Real name Anastasia she serves as the Cobra Organization's intelligence officer and lieutenant to Cobra Commander.
She was due to marry Duke but he left her at the altar due to his guilt over the death of her brother.
The Cobra team also consists of The Doctor, Storm Shadow and Zartan played by Joseph Gordon Hewitt, Lee Byung-hun and Arnold Vosloo.
G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra is released 7th August.
