Last week saw FemaleFirst take a look, a very early look if we are being honest, at the performances that may just bag an Oscar nomination or win early next year.
Now we have looked at actors and actresses it is time to take a quick peak at some of the movies that could be battling it out for Best Picture.
Everyone is already talking about how brilliant Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy it, and I would whole heartedly agree, it is one of the best movies to have graced the big screen so far this year.
Remember there are ten nominations in this category but has this film come out just a tad too soon? Could it get lost under the piles of other movies that want to bag a nod?
I have said this one but I will say it again the Academy loves a biopic movie and that's why you have to assume that J. Edgar is a certainty for a Best Picture nod.
Not to mention the movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, who may find himself nominated for Best Actor, and helmed by Clint Eastwood, who should bag a nomination for Best Director.
Another movie that seems to be gaining a lot of momentum is War Horse, the latest offering from Steven Spielberg.
It is yet another war project from Spielberg - a genre where he has had lots of success in the past - and it is a movie that I am looking forward to later this year.
The festival circuit always throws up some movies that we should keep and eye on and this year is no different as Shame and A Dangerous Method, both of which star Michael Fassbender, have been gaining some early support.
There was also plenty of praise at the Venice Film Festival for Roman Polanski's latest offering Carnage, which stars Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster and Christoph Waltz.
And when it comes to Oscar nominations you can't count out George Clooney who has picked up a handful in recent years for acting, directing and writing.
And 2012 could see history repeat itself as the actor has two projects on the horizon - he has written, directed and stars in The Ides of March; a movie that could see him battling it out for gongs once more.
He has also starred in The Descendants - another movie that is gaining some early support.
Who know what will get nominated but these are just a handful of the movies who have set their stall out early - and are all worthy of a nod!
