Silent movie The Artist leads the Bafta nominations as it got twelve nods this morning.

Daniel Radcliffe and Holliday Grainger were on hand this morning to announce the 2012 nominations.

The Artist picked up Best Film nod alongside The Descendants, Drive, The Help and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy while Michel Hazanavicius, Jean Dujardin & Bérénice Bejo were nominated for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was another movie that featured heavily as it picked up eleven nods.

The John le Carre adaptation was not only nominated for Best Picture as well as outstanding British Film and Best Actor for Gary Oldman.

George Clooney leads the Best Actor category and he is hoping to add to his Golden Globe.

He is joined by Oldman, Dujardin, Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender.

Meryl Streep is the favourite to scoop Best Actress for her role in The Iron Lady and she will battle it out with Bejo, Michelle Williams, Viola Davis and Tilda Swinton.

Best Director is also set to be a hard fought category as Nicolas Winding Refn, Martin Scorsese, Tomas Alfredson and Lynne Ramsey join Michel Hazanavicius.

Martin Scorsese is guaranteed to walk away with a gong at the ceremony as he is to be presented with the Bafta Fellowship.
