2014 is set to be a very exciting year for movies with a whole host of dramas and blockbusters set to light up the big screen.
And some of the movies that we are already getting excited are being filmed right now. We take a look at some of the movies where the camera is rolling right now.
- Fury
Last week the first image from Fury was revealed as filming got underway on the new Brad Pitt film here in the UK.
The film sees David Ayer back in the director’s chair for the war movie; a screenplay that he has also penned.
Pitt leads an all star cast as Logan Lerman, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Bernthal and Michael Pena are all also on board the film.
Fury is set at the very end of World War II, in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines.
Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
A UK release date is yet to be revealed but it will be hitting U.S. screens in November of next year.
- Guardians Of The Galaxy - released 1st August 2014
It has already been a very successful couple of years for Marvel with the likes if Avengers Assemble and Iron Man 3 both breaking the $1 billion barrier.
Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the Marvel movies that will be hitting the big screen next year as we are introduced to a new series of characters.
James Gunn is in the director’s chair while an all star cast has been assembled; Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close and John C. Reilly are all also on board. It really is one of the most exciting cast lists of 2014.
The movie follows jet pilot who get stranded in space and must unite a diverse team of aliens to form a team that can see off a cosmic threat.
Guardians of the Galaxy is part of Marvel’s Phase Two of movies and will follow Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Solider.
- Fast & Furious 7 - released 25th July 2014
Fast & Furious 6 hit the big screen this summer - going on to be the most successful film in the franchise - and works has already begun on the seventh instalment.
Vin Diesel is back as Dominic Toretto and has been posting some early images from the shoot on his Facebook page.
Justin Lin will not be returning to the director’s chair this time around and James Wan will be the new filmmaker at the helm of this popular franchise.
This new movie will pick up after events of the sixth as Dominic and the gang come face to face with Ian Shaw, who wants revenge for the death of his brother Owen.
Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson are some of the familiar faces that will also be returning. But Jason Statham and Djimon Hounsou are some of the big name additions to the cast list.
It was revealed last week that there were already plans for an eighth and ninth movie in the franchise.
- The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was one of the big hit TV series of the sixties and now it is coming to the big screen for the first time.
The film will sees Guy Ritchie return to the director’s chair for what will be his first movie since Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows back in 2011; he has also penned the script.
Henry Cavill will take on the role of Napoleon Solo while Armie Hammer is on board as Illya Kuryakin. Hugh Grant, Alicia Vikander and Jared Harris make up a very exciting cast list.
Set in the 1960s the movie will follow CIA agent Solo and KGB operative Kuryakin as they team up for a joint mission.
The Man From U.NC.L.E. is a movie that has been in the pipeline for quite some time and has seen a whole host of different actors on board at one time or another.
No UK release date has yet been announced.
- Transformers: Age of Extinction - released 10th July 2014
Transformer: Age Of Extinction is the fourth film in the Transformers franchise and will see Michael Bay take the movie in a new direction.
Bay is back in the director’s chair for the film, but it is all change on the cast - not to mention the Transformers themselves have been given a bit of a makeover.
Mark Wahlberg is the new lead actor, as he takes on the role of Cade. Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles and Jack Reynor are all also on the cast list.
Transformers is already a billion dollar franchise with all three movies performing incredibly well at the global box office. This fourth instalment looks set to do just the same as a brand new story and set of characters will be delivered by Bay and co.
- The Imitation Game
Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most in demand actors around at the moment, and he is back on set for The Imitation Game.
The movie see him team up with fellow Brit star Keira Knightley for the first time in this biographical thriller.
Cumberbatch will take on the role of Alan Turing, an English mathematician who helps crack the Enigma code during the Second World War.
Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance join bother Cumberbatch and Knightley on the cast list.
The movie sees Morten Tyldum return to the director’s chair for the first time since the critical success of Headhunters last year.
Cumberbatch has a whole host of exciting projects on the horizon next year, and The Imitation Game is set to be one of them. There is no UK or U.S. release date for this film yet.
