Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet CC-3 2 Door 2.0 Litre - Blow Out Your Stress With The New Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet Cc-3 2 Door 2.0 Litre
The Ford Focus is one of the most successful model ranges in Europe and a very popular choice for the UK families. Now, they have appointed a new head of the family, with the introduction of their first ever power operated hardtop model, the Coupe Cabriolet.
Well, the UK families will be tempted further as this Coupe Cabriolet is a four seater and boasts of having the best-in-class luggage capacity of 534 litres when the roof is closed and an impressive 248 litres when opened to which no other direct competitor in this market segment can beat. 29 seconds, at a touch of a button, is all it takes to blow away any holiday stress you may be incurring with the two piece retractable hardtop lifting off and neatly folding away into the boot space.
Two trims are available the Trend and more upmarket Titanium - guess which one I had for my test vehicle - yep your right, I love my creature comforts whilst driving, with the option of two Duratec petrol engines and one Duratorq TDCi diesel. At the heart of my test car was Fords highly acclaimed 145PS 2.0 litre Duratec that certainly was very lively and bubbly sprinting to 62mph in just 10.3 seconds, reaching 130 mph top speed, yet to appease the stringent home maker, fuel consumption is 37.7mpg on a combined cycle with CO2 emissions at 179.
I will admit, I did a double take when this car arrived for her looks were stunning; then I read she had been designed in conjunction with the Italian mob, Pininfarina. Well, that explained the chic ness and style this car eludes starting with the gorgeous metallic Blue di Cine paint that extends to the door handles, door mirrors and bumpers. She is beautifully proportioned for a Coupe Cabriolet thanks to the cabin that sits centrally between the axles and the tapered body, kind of stretches out the car while the 17 inch silver alloy wheel the Titanium trim has, gives an inkling to what is under her bonnet. Both front and rear light clusters are large giving her a prominent stance while the fog lights and lower front grille see stylish chrome applications.
Inside the smell of leather wafts up to your nostrils, in my case, a camel colour, um, but being leather, easy to clean. The front seats are fully adjustable, the drivers having a two-way power function and both are heated. To get the children into the rear is simple by just pulling up the tab and the front seats slide forward. The rear accommodated the children but my friends were a little, shall we say, intimate in the rear. But dont worry, they were married. The four-spoke leather steering wheel with aluminium inserts has the cruise control switches to keep me within the law, while other features on the Couple Cabriolet include dual zone climate control with a special mode for open air cruising, a Sony CD/MP3 audio system, the fabulous Quickclear heated windscreen that really does clear very quickly as the TV advert shows, as well as rain sensing wipers, auto light function, auto dimming rear view mirrors and keeping the water cooled, is a glove box with cooling function.
Being a Ford, the list of options is endless as is the dedicated list of accessories so options on my test car included metallic paint, parking sensors, an Advanced Bluetooth hands free and Voice Control system, plus the luxury pack comprising of DEATC and full leather. This pushes the price tag from £18,795 up to £20,695 so don't get too carried away when personalising your CC.
Driviewise she is simply dreamy just like a caramel chocolate and certainly restored my faith in Ford cars. She is effortless and so smooth, running through the five gears, though sometimes I felt she could do with a sixth. The Electro hydraulic power steering takes just 2.9 turns lock to lock so easily whizzes in and out of the parking bays - oh and the car actually fits the ever deceasing parking bays, and is speed related so tightens up at higher speeds as well as helping to reduce fuel consumption. If there is one thing Ford have got right over the years, its their excellent reputation of driving quality and the CC is absolutely no exception to this. She was so comfortable and pleasing to drive I could have moved in. With the roof open, there is very little sign of scuttle shake often associated with cabriolets and it was really noticeable the lack of noise in the cabin from the outside as I successfully managed to have sensible conversations with my children! How refreshing is that! Ask me again after the school holidays.
Keeping us all safe and secure, the Ford Focus CC Titanium comes, as standard with driver and passenger airbags, side airbags, a Rollover Protection Device that uses electronic sensors and a gyroscope to detect impending rollovers, three point safety belts for all seats with pretensioners and load limiters for both front seats, while the well proven Ford horizontally stroking steering column and safety pedals all combine with RPD to maximise occupant restraint and protection.
The precise suspension tuning is the active and sold base for the safety package and as a part of Ford PrecisionDrive, it helps drivers intuitively to rely on their Ford car in any driving condition. ABS is standard with EBD and special attention has been made to brake responsiveness. A Thatcham Category 1 approved alarm secures the CC.
I really really enjoyed this new Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet. Not only did she look the business, stirring up jealousy amongst the neighbours, all the controls are easy to use and very driver friendly, the children fitted, I think that is a benefit - and we were all very safe thanks to her extensive safety package. But the ultimate accolade for any car is the ride and handling to which this CC is faultless, delivering a simply superb, comfortable and smooth drive.
