A great couple of days in Edinburgh , Lexus planned to introduce its all new fully electric UX 300e to the UK press at an event in Scotland.
The event was to be hosted in Scotland’s capital Edinburgh, a city seeped in history, that has produced many inventors, artists, and writers. A city that has a mountain at its centre as well as stunning architecture both modern and historic, castles, bridges, and a thriving nightlife scene. What place could be more fitting to showcase Lexus’s innovative new UX 300e.
We all met at Edinburgh’s own stunning Carlowrie Castle, to be introduced to the car. We were all at the front enjoying canapes when we heard the sound of bag pipes. This was certainly the way to make an entrance; a team of Guards marching alongside and in front of the Lexus as it drove up the drive to the Castle entrance. It was truly unforgettable and amazing to watch.
After this we were taken inside for our evening meal with the main course being Aberdeen Angus beef fillet my favourite and then with dessert an introduction to Scotland’s national drink whisky by expert - Lenka Whyles, who took us through the many distinctive tastes of each whisky . Afterwards we were taken to our hotel for the evening, the Virgin Hotel set in Edinburgh’s Victoria Street, and, my room had a great view of Edinburgh castle. It was a really quirky hotel and luxurious as you would expect.
Next morning up bright and early for our test drive around the old town and the centre before heading off for lunch we drove our Lexus UX 300e to Scott's Restaurant in Port Edgar Marina, which features the three bridges over the Firth of Forth as a stunning backdrop and a great photo opportunity, (pity about the weather). The food was lovely - my first ever taste of gravlax, and with being next to the water you could image how fresh the sea food was. After lunch a bit of fun and a masterclass being taught the magic of Japanese Miso and how to make it from scratch by Robin Sheriff, with only a couple more weeks till I can test my own that I made.
Our test drives final destination was to Blue Parrot Productions to create our own work of art by making a light painting with our Lexus UX 300e. This was really interesting and I love what I produced, before heading home after a great couple of days with Lexus.
About The Car
Lexus has long been market leader with hybrid and plug-in-hybrid power, and now the new UX 300e is an evolution of the first all-electric Lexus model.
The bold, elegantly sculpted design of the UX all-Electric SUV combines stunning design with compact proportions and outstanding smoothness to create a unique driving experience.
Quality extends to every part of the Lexus UX 300e: outside the car has an eye-catching front grille, sharp creases all across its exterior and a rear light that stretches the full width of the boot lid meaning it will grab attention despite its small size.
The design quality continues through to the interior of Lexus UX300e. No compromises have been made here with all the controls sited in the optimum position on the dash and steering wheel. Then the controls on the 10.25-inch infotainment screen are all angled towards the driver giving easy access.
For a high-riding SUV, you actually sit relatively low in the Lexus UX: the seats are luxurious, complete with the full range of adjustments in the driver’s seat and steering wheel. In the rear are three seats, so plenty of space for four/five adults.
The UX boot isn’t huge, but the fact that the rear seats fold down should provide all the space you need.
UX 300e is an Urban Crossover, which is made for the city. It is easy to drive and manoeuvrable, you get a good view out and the Parking Support Alert makes parking a dream even in the tightest of spots, while on the faster roads the car is quiet, so you only hear the engine if you accelerate hard.
It’s a cost-effective car, and its improved battery, (a range of up to 279 miles on a single charge on 100% full battery) makes it the perfect Urban Crossover, well deserving of the pomp and splendour afforded to it at the Scottish launch, as Lexus continues to bring innovative driving luxury to the market.
On the road price from £47,495.00.
