3D embellishment on dresses was big news on the catwalks this year and now flowers have been downsized for petal decoration for a subtler take on the look.
At New York and London Fashion Week designers including, Christian Siriano, Ashish and even Barbie used 3D designs and Cheryl Cole and Nicoel Richie are both fans of the look.
However the 3D style might be a little too much off the catwalk and on us non-celebrities which is why the petal take on it is perfect. As the petals lay flat against each other they do not seem too obvious and the shape is similar to the scalloping trend seen all over the spring/summer 09 catwalks.
The trick to this trend is definitely one petal item per outfit, like the ASOS dress (pictured left) which uses petals on the bust but leaves the length of it simple. Less is definitely more in this look.
If you want something a bit younger try this Topshop skirt, £59. The nude colour is perfect for summer and if you wear it with a simple white vest top it has that edge we'd expect from Sienna Miller or the Olsen Twins.
Petals are the future girls so get shopping!
