John Lewis prove that the dreaed credit crunch hasn't dampened out fashion spirit as they report a rise in clothes sales.
The department store reported a 3.7% rise in fashion sales, according to Drapers.
John Lewis director of operational development Andrew Murphy told the magazine: "Although the hot weather at the start of the week meant we missed last year’s score by 2.9%, this represents an improvement on our strike rate for the year to date."
"An excellent day’s trade on Saturday finished the week in fine style and this momentum carried into Sunday, where we built handsomely on our 2008 performance."
