"This is the story of a young girl called Lily. Looking at the moon through her family telescope one night, she is amazed at what she finds, a man on the moon.

"Lily watches on as our man goes about his chores, all alone up there. She becomes determined to get something to the moon, to send him a message and show him that someone down here is thinking of him."

The John Lewis Christmas 2015 advert has finally been revealed, with Oasis' track 'Half The World Away' being performed by Aurora throughout the two minute visual feast.

John Lewis have set themselves a high standard throughout the years, and are now seen by most as the most anticipated Christmas ad of the year, helping kick-star the festivities.

Costing £1 million, the production was filmed mostly in Warner Brothers studios in Hertfordshire, and head of brand marketing at John Lewis, Rachel Swift, says the ads have taken a house style which she doesn't want to change.

She explains: "It has become part of our handwriting as a brand. It's about storytelling through music and emotion. The sentiment behind that hasn't changed - and that is quite intentional. The strategy behind our campaigns is always about thoughtful gifting."

It's also exciting this year to see John Lewis finally make the main character a girl rather than a boy, which seemed to become the norm in recent adverts from the retailer.

Meanwhile, Marks & Spencer have revealed that their ad will be shown for the first time on Sunday, November 8, with Sainsbury's coming next week on Thursday, November 12.
