Gemma Ward returned to modelling last night at the Prada SS15 show and Twitter went into meltdown as a result.
The 26-year-old opened the Prada spring/summer 2015 show at Milan Fashion Week after taking a six-year hiatus from the fashion industry.
Of course there were plenty of people who were delighted by the return of Gemma to the runway:
Models.com tweeted: “Is the return of Gemma too much for you? Can you breathe? Anyone need CPR? Experiencing heart palpitations? #prada #gemmareturns”
Gemma was scouted when she was just 14-years-old and made her catwalk debut at 15-years-old, she then retired in 2008 and disappeared from the spotlight altogether to deal with the loss of fellow Australian and Hollywood actor Heath Ledger.
Gemma - who has appeared in a number of films including 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' and 'The Great Gatsby' since quitting modelling - has spoken out about losing Heath, whom she was seeing at the time of his death from an overdose, in the past.
Speaking in 2011, she said: "I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years and it was something spurred by Heath's death. [Heath and I] first met in New York and we were both struggling with things that I won't go into, and we bonded over that.
"I met him and said, 'I'm kind of going through a hard time and I'm not interested in having a serious relationship with somebody right now', and he was like, 'You know, let's just be there for each other through these hard times we're both going through'. And we developed a relationship and we started seeing each other."
However, the young star has since found love with fellow model David Letts, with whom she has a nine-month-old daughter Naia.
And it looks like we’re set to see more of Gemma now too. Her former agency IMG Models tweeted earlier today: “don't call it a comeback, @Gem_Ward is here to stay! @Prada #IMGirls #GemmaWard”
