Anya Hindmarch wanted to spend more time with her family so fired herself from her job.
The 46-year-old fashion designer has admitted she made the decision to leave her chief executive position at her eponymous company to spend more quality time with her family.
Anya - who has five children between 11 and 25 with her husband James Seymour, the company's financial director - confessed she couldn't find the time to juggle motherhood and her ever-expanding business.
She told MailOnline at the British Chambers of Commerce's international trade conference in London yesterday (09.10.14): "I have just fired myself as CEO.
"I was CEO and obviously overseeing the creative side of the business. And I think the business had grown too big, really, for me. I was working every hour God sends and, with lots of children, that is quite hard."
The Brit-born designer - who was replaced by James McArthur when she stepped down three years ago - hasn't given up her career altogether and after scaling down her role in the bussines, insists her kids enjoy being around her as she works.
She explained: "If you are happy and you have had a really thrilling day, your children will recognise that and be very proud of you.
"So I think do what you need to do. I love working and I think my kids get out a kick out of it too and I would say include them."
Anya launched the company in 1987 and now has 56 stores in 17 countries.
She was also awarded an MBE in recognition of her contribution to the British fashion industry in 2009.
