Dior Homme's latest addition, Kris Van Assche, unveiled his new collection in Paris yesterday.

The much anticipated creations are the first to be produced by the Belgian desinger since he became the creative director for the label earlier this year.

Van Assche had big shoes to fill as he took over the role from the iconic Hedi Slimane, who had massive success with his Pete Doherty inspired collections.

However Van Assche is no stranger to the Dior brand as he worked there before he went to launch his own brand in 2005.

Now back at Dior, his first collection attempted to stand apart from the Slimane look by replacing the scruffy, skinny indie-boy look with amuch more slick, groomed style.

Pleats were seen throughout the collection as well as bold print shirts with stiff edges and clean silhouettes.

Slimane's departure from the French fashion house shocked many in the fashion industry back in February.

His sharp tailoring and designs for Dior Homme have made him a hit amongst the fashion pack and A – List celebrities.

He told vogue:” I had already set up the principles that could continue to be there for Dior Homme. As for my own style and aesthetic, I decided it was time to separate the two. “

Van Assche has a lot to live up to but it seems he is heading in the right direction already.
