You have to feel for Sarah Brown, you really do. Not only was she outshone by Michelle Obama on her visit to the UK last week, but now it turns out that she had to rent her own clothes for the G20 summit too.
According to a Times comment piece, Sarah has no income of her own and she gave up her high-profile PR job, the minute her hubby became Chancellor.
She can't receive gifts, or even borrow clothes, not even for a summit, so poor Mrs B had to deck herself out in rented clothes for The Obama's high-profile visit to London.
Sarah had to pay a fortune of her own money to rent that Graeme Black jacket she greeted the Obama's in, only to later return the fabulous fashion statement.
Downing Street confirmed that the Prime Minister's wife did indeed hire many of the clothes she wore to the G20, in addition to an Amanda Wakeley number for a recent state banquet for Felipe Calderón, the Mexican president, and the lord mayor's banquet.
A Downing Street spokeswoman told The Guardian: "She buys a lot from high street stores like M&S and New Look but she also rents and buys dresses and jackets from her favourite designers, Graeme Black and Amanda Wakeley."
