Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway has come a long way since The Princess Diaries. The Disney teen star has worked hard to shed her cute image since her days as geek-turned-princess, Mia Thermopolis and now has the film and fashion world at her feet.

Anne has a very polished look on the red carpet and is often hailed as one of the world's most beautiful women. It's not hard to see why when you look at her- gorgeous hair, flawless skin and big brown eyes all make for success in Hollywood.

She even avoided the troubled teen path, that has been trod on by so many of today's teen Hollywood starlets. No, Anne Hathaway has worked hard at being perfect as perfect can be, and even a scandal with her ex-boyfriend cannot shed that halo.

She really hit the big time when she starred in the smash hit, The Devil Wears Prada in 2007, but people forget that she was quietly making sound film choices before then.

Her supporting roles in Nicholas Nickleby and Ella Enchanted kept the Disney fans happy, while her starring role in Brokeback Mountain saw her shed her innocent teen image all together and strip off for a topless scene.

We look back at Anne's fashion through her films to see how her style has developed and changed...

The Princess Diaries

This is one purely for teen fans among you, or if you watched this film when you were younger. This is a modern Disney classic already, but doesn't give Anne much chance to show off her fashion credentials. She does make the best of a hideous school uniform though, and has nice glossy hair, so really she's the perfect choice for a princess.

Nicholas Nickleby

Anne's first period film, and this lady knows how to work a bonnet. She looks a little washed out in this film, but does manage to still look good without wearing much make-up. Again, this is hardly a film known for its fashion, but Anne makes the most out of the dowdy period costumes and she does get to wear a few different bonnets, so it's not a total waste.

Brokeback Mountain

Ye-ha! Anne rocks the Cowboy look here and you can already see her maturity starting to show. During the period of the film, you see Anne's character bleach her hair, smoke and wear some crazy cowgirl outfits and hideous fringed jackets, all fitting for the period of the film. Her topless scene also got the critics praising her acting skills. Humm...

The Devil Wears Prada

The fashion in this film cannot be compared with anything Anne has done, or will probably ever do again because it is just too spectacular. The irony that the 'Runway people' thought her character was fat in this movie was just laughable, because Anne rocked every outfit given to her. Our favourite is this olive green Grecian dress, complete with shades and killer heels.

Becoming Jane

In the second of her period films, Anne seems totally at comfort with the styling of the period, almost as if she could of been born to look this way. Her hair is long and curly and looks a little bit lighter than we have seen in previous films. Her funky fringe and layers from The Devil Wears Prada have also gone, to be replaced with a curly wispy fringe that was typical of this period.

Get Smart

This was a big box office smash in the US, but failed to make much of an impact in the UK and it's a shame because Anne looks sexy and fashionable here. She gets to kick butt, so to speak, in leather, look chic in a white trench coat and dazzle alongside Steve Carell in a sequined dress and funky wig. We like.

Rachel's Getting Married

Wow, a radical change of appearance for Miss Hathaway. The sharp bob cut may be bang on trend, but we're not entirely sure we like it on Anne. We're also not mad keen on the random streaks of blonde that she's sporting here, and the dowdy clothes? No, No, No Anne, go back to your glamorous best. Ah, the things they do for acting.
