Women can't afford to have their hair done in the salon all of the time

More than 60% of women are choosing to colour their hair at home, rather than visit expensive salons, according to new research.

70% of the women who dye their hair at home say they do so because they can’t afford the high salon prices.

Scott Cornwall, hair and colour expert, comments: “I’m not surprised that so many women are now deciding to colour their hair at home, instead of going to a salon. It’s the easier, more affordable option that allows greater freedom of choice.”

The study, commissioned by the Scott Cornwall Colour Restore hair infusions range, found that 76% of women notice their hair colour fade within four weeks, yet the majority only visit the hairdressers every three or four months, or less.

Interestingly, 59% of women who dye their hair at home are aged between 30 and 50. Whilst they may have a higher disposable income, this group appears to be markedly more confident at dying their hair themselves compared to women aged 30 and under.
