Sweet treats can be good for you!

Sweet treats can be good for you!

We know how you're feeling right now, we really do. That unhealthy amount of chocolate wrappers at the side of your bed is making you break out in a cold sweat, as you remember the mass binge you had over the weekend.

Those Easter eggs just kept on piling up and you willingly kept on eating, and now the guilt has taken hold and you instantly start making drastic diet resolutions to lose that extra chocolate weight.

Sound familiar? Well, before you start panicking and reducing your calorie intake by an unhealthy amount, we've got a piece of news that may make you reconsider, and smile too.

Chocolate is good for you. Yes, really. Well, in proportion it is, so  it's fine to indulge now and again, and what's more you shouldn't feel too guilty about it either.

An average Easter egg is a pretty naughty indulgence, but considering how nice the weather was over the weekend, we bet you worked it off without even realising.

A two hour walk, or cycling for 40 mins would have burned that baby off, or going for a swim would also have done the trick, so if you haven't already upped your exercise for the week, then add these to the list.

Indulging our chocolate fix every now and then can also be good for your blood pressure, immune system and heart, as cocoa is rich in antitoxins and experts believe that dark chocolate can help prevent heart disease.

If that wasn't enough to get you reaching for a sweet treat, apparently chocolate has a reputation for being a bit of an aphrodisiac. Forget Oysters and champagne, give us chocolate and sex any time!

Finally, chocolate can also boost your mood on even the most dark of days, as it's packed full of mood-boosting endorphins and serotonin, which produce a natural high. If there was ever a reason for a mid-afternoon fix...
