New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest beauty investments of the year, with a lot of us putting in hours of preparation to ensure a sizzling start to the year; but does all that time in over-heated changing rooms; steamy bathrooms and in front of the mirror really go the distance in securing that all important midnight kiss?
According to research by nice’n easy, you don’t need to spend weeks finding the perfect dress, killer heels and a pout popping lippie. The secret is all in the hair.
Of the 2,000 men polled 73% agreed the most noticeable thing a woman can do to look their best is to change her hair. It seems women are in agreement as over half of women polled believe they feel much more confident after colouring their hair, whilst 62% say it makes them feel better about themselves and 52% feel happier.
So, is the spray tan, fake eyelashes, waxing and varnishing really worth it? According to the nation’s men only 3% thought a spray tan would make you look noticeably better, with a mere 1% stating fake eyelashes turn their heads.
Research shows for a special occasion like NYE we spend over twice as long on our beauty regimen than on a normal day, with the average woman spending just under an hour beautifying herself (58 minutes) usually. So good news for ladies looking for love in 2013… or even just a midnight man… just concentrate on the hair!
Psychologist and psychotherapist Rachel Shattock Dawson explains: “We know the importance of first impressions and that our hair is one of the first things people notice about us. A good cut with great colour, condition, body and gloss are enviable assets that keep us looking youthful, attractive and polished. Women want to have a good hair day every day because they know they feel better when they look their best.”
