Blondes apparently spend more on their appearance

If you have blonde hair you're more likely to spend more money on your appearance, according to new research.

The motto ‘blondes have more fun’ may not have any scientific proof in it, but research released today has revealed that your attributes can affect your spending habits.

The survey conducted by Clothes Show Live shows that girls with blonde hair and blue eyes spend the most on their appearance, an average of £326 a month, not surprising since they go shopping more than ten times a month.

Maryam Hamizadeh, Show Director of Clothes Show Live commented on the results: “We all spend our hard earned money differently, but it is important that we always treat ourselves, be it a manicure or a pair of killer heels. Clothes Show Live is the perfect day out for shopping, celebrities, makeovers and fashion, and there is something to suit everyone’s hair colour and budget.”

Blondes are more likely to spend money on their beauty routine, while brunettes prefer to splash their hard earned cash on clothes.

Women with red hair and green eyes are the thriftiest, spending just £84 a month, with shoes being the most expensive item in their wardrobe. They also most likely to shop with two friends  and prefer to shop on Sundays.

Women with black hair spend up to £112 a month on maintaining their luscious locks, whether it’s treating themselves to a blow-dry, conditioning treatment or covering up those pesky roots.

And brunettes with brown eyes spend the majority of their disposable income on accessories with shoes, necklaces and belts topping their shopping lists.

The common trait amongst all women interviewed was that a designer handbag is the most desirable fashion accessory no matter hair or eye colour. This comes as no surprise really though does it? Who wouldn't want some designer arm candy?

The stats have been released to coincide with the launch of the hotly anticipated Clothes Show Live event. At the heart of British fashion, the five-day Clothes Show Live event will feature catwalk shows and shopping from internationally acclaimed brands and high street labels, as well as showcasing work by up and coming, independent designers.

The survey has been issued to coincide with the first day of Clothes Show Live, which will take place from today on 7-11th December at NEC Birmingham. Tickets are still on sale from www.clothesshowlive.com. All tickets to Clothes Show Live include a seat in the Suzuki Fashion Theatre.
