How did last week go? Did you get rid of anything off the list? If so and you’ve got a bit of momentum behind you- here is another seven things you might want to address in the coming week.

Minimalism on Female First

Minimalism on Female First

Medicine cabinet: There are bound to be boxes and bottles of things in there that have expired. Perhaps you have something on the shelf that no longer serves a purpose but is still in date- like folic acid for instance. If this is the case, give it to someone you know who is pregnant so they can benefit. If you have expired products to get rid of or redundant products you can’t give away, don’t throw them out- take them into your local pharmacy for safe disposal and make a mental note to only buy as you need so you don’t end up in the same position again.

Letters: Perhaps you still have sentimental papers like letters from an ex or current lover or maybe you are saddled with letters that have come through the post from the doctor, insurance company or local politician- to name a few. Shred the ones with personal information on them and file the ones you want to keep or digitize them and then chuck the paper copy in the recycling.

Office supplies: You don’t need to sort your entire office just yet- but concentrate only on the supplies. You can only write with so many pens in a lifetime and there are only so many drawing pins you can find a use for. If you have items in bulk, consider giving them to your loved ones to save them from having to buy any, or your local school might benefit from extra stationary supplies, so why not drop some off there?

Bad eating habits: You may have already begun this as part of a new year’s resolution- but if you haven’t try to eliminate at least one bad eating habit each week from now on. If you always get a take-out pizza on a Friday- why not swap this for something healthier? One out of seven evening meals won’t feel like such a pull and after about a month or so- you probably won’t even notice the difference as your new habit takes effect.

Writing: Do you have any post it notes hanging around? Old shopping lists? Notes in a notebook that are no longer relevant? If this sounds like you- now’s the time to clear the way for new writing and out with last year’s scribblings.

Insecurities: This may sound like a big thing to ask- but rather than working on your bigger insecurities- which may take more than a week- work on the little things that make you feel insecure. An item of clothing you don’t feel comfortable in, someone you follow on Instagram, a friendship group you hang out with or an activity. If any of these make you feel bad-they need to go. They are not worth your time or your energy- so get rid of the clothes, unfollow on social media until your heart feels content, distance yourself from toxic people and try a new activity that lifts you up.

Classes you don’t like: If you go swimming every week and secretly hate it or go to a dance class with your partner and dislike every minute if it, now is the time to be honest and say- ‘I don’t want to do this anymore- I would rather do this…’ Life is too short to be spending your free time going to classes that bring you no joy. If you want to try a cooking class- go ahead- or if you would rather be doing pottery than Zumba- make the change now.

Happy decluttering!
