If you are looking to adopt a more minimal beauty routine, here are some top tips to stop you from spending and having more than you need. You are beautiful already- you don’t need lots of lotions and potions to prove this!
Coconut Oil- If you have products that all promise to do specific things- you might want to switch to coconut oil which can be used for shaving, to remove make up, as a deep conditioner for your hair and to moisturise- among other things. One product with several functions is more cost effective than several products that only do the one thing each.
Switch to flannels: If you use disposable pads, wipes or cotton balls to clean your make up off at night- think about switching to a flannel instead. This will not only reduce the amount of things in your beauty bag or on your bathroom shelf, but it’s also more friendly to the environment.
Replace items as you need: There is no need to stock-pile when things are on offer. Simply buy as you need. Products have an expiry too so if you start using something that has been in your cupboard for a while, it might not be as effective.
Don’t give into the latest beauty trends: Whatever the new craze is- don’t give into it if it’s not for you. Stick with what you’ve tried and tested and what you know suits your skin and your look. As with clothing- just because it’s fashionable doesn’t mean it will automatically suit you and make up is no different.
Choose versatile make-up: Find a look that can be tweaked for everyday as well as for when you are going out. For instance- if you wear an eyeliner, blusher and mascara to work, you can always apply these items more heavily to create a dramatic look for a party. This will save you having to buy individual items for every day and evening.
Treat yourself- If you want a certain look for a special occasion- rather than spending the money on products that you will likely never use again- why not get your nails or make up and hair done by a professional? Chances are you would spend the same if you were to buy everything you need anyway. Plus, it feels good to get pampered!
