The minimalist lifestyle has many benefits and one of the most important is that it gives life more purpose- it gives the individual more determination and a sense of resolve- here’s why.
What’s important: Minimalism helps you to see what’s really important in your life. Once you’ve cleared away the stuff- it no longer clouds your vision and stops you seeing what has the most value in your life- the people.
Passions: Once the distraction of stuff is out of the way- it leaves time and room to discover your passions. Passions that you’ve never explored before and/or passions you’ve set aside to concentrate on material things. It reignites the enthusiasm to find out what lights you up.
Ambitions and goals: Once your focus shifts from what to buy and have in the here and now- your mind has the freedom to wander and think to the future. To consider what your goals and ambitions are for the days, months and years to come. What can you achieve now you’re free of the shackles of objects?
Self-awareness: Once you adopt this lifestyle- you know what your triggers are, your bad habits and pitfalls- so you can deal with them before they happen or nip them in the bud if you lose focus. You find out what you want and what you don’t, what works in your life and what doesn’t and the people who lift you up and similarly, the people who bring you down.
Focus: This way of life helps you to pinpoint the things that bring positivity to your life and the things that don’t. Sometimes difficult decisions have to be made when there is nothing to hide behind- but ultimately, it’s for good reason.
Compassion: Minimalism encourages compassion for others. The sheer act of donating your things shows that you want someone else to find value in something you no longer do at little or no cost to them. The shift from stuff to people highlights what those around you really need and how you can spend your extra time to help them get it.
Changes: Minimalism helps you to identify changes that need to take place to live a more meaningful life. When you strip back the excess- the answers become more obvious and if they aren’t apparent right away- you have the headspace to explore them.
