Thinking about your beach body already? Well, good news ladies – you can burn off tens of thousands of calories all by just getting on your bike this spring.
As the British Heart Foundation (BHF) prepares to organise its 39th London to Brighton Bike Ride this June, the charity has revealed that through training for the event and taking part in the ride itself, the average female cyclist will burn a whopping 31,240 calories.
Burning more calories than you are taking in will also help with weight loss. An energy deficit this big could help you to lose nearly nine pounds (4kg) of fat.
If that wasn’t enough motivation for you to take part in Europe’s oldest and largest charity bike ride, you’ll also be helping to raise funds for the nation’s heart charity’s life-saving research into heart disease, which affects millions of people in the UK.
Over 28,000 cyclists will be descending on the capital on 15th June to ride 54 miles to Brighton beach. If you want to be one of them, sign up now as places are going fast.
