Russell Kane is to release a DVD of his Edinburgh Comedy Award and Barry Award winning show Smokescreens & Castles on 7th November.
The Let’s Dance for Comic Relief finalist and I’m A Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here Now! presenter is the only person to have won both prestigious comedy awards for the same stand-up show.
Smokescreens & Castles is inspired by Russell’s childhood home; the only council house in his street which had been privately bought - by his Dad. This attracted the ire of the neighbours, and when Dave Kane built an extension, their home was mockingly christened ‘The Castle’ by incensed Enfield folk.

The Castle could be a symbol for all the funny and heartbreaking stuff that went on in that house. The bricking they put around their love, the barriers they built in place of feelings, the smokescreens in communication which hid the tender truths.
One room at a time, Russell whisks us through The Castle, blowing away the smoke of history in a whirlwind of high-energy contortions and pant-spraying hilarious routines.
Russell has achieved what no other comedian has managed - winning both the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award and the Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2010, the two most prestigious prizes in comedy - with this show, before taking it on a sell-out tour around the UK.
In the last year Russell has become a regular on TV and radio, appearing on a host of shows including Mock the Week (BBC Two), It’s Your Round (BBC Radio 4), A Good Read (BBC Radio 4), The Graham Norton Show (BBC One), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Live at the Apollo (BBC One) and who can forget when Russell stormed into the Let’s Dance for Comic Relief (BBC One) final following a bootylicious performance of Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love - watched by 7.56m on BBC One?
He also starred as the series regular on all six episodes of ITV1’s flagship comedy showcase, Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford; returned to the Jungle to co-host the TRIC-award nominated I’m A Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here Now! (ITV2), live every night from the jungle; and presented a new radio show, Russell Kane’s Whistle Stop Tour (BBC Radio 2).
After returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer with a critically acclaimed new live stand-up show, Manscaping, he is now performing at major venues nationwide including London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
