Yesterday (October 18th, 2021), Ubisoft announced that it will be taking another step towards supporting education initiatives through the expansion of its partnership with Digital Schoolhouse in the UK.
Ubisoft is a French video game company founded in 1986, and has a great deal of successful gaming franchises under their belt, including Far Cry, Watch Dogs, and of course, Assassin’s Creed.
Digital Schoolhouse is, as well as being backed by the games industry trade body UKIE, a not-for-profit programme which allows primary schools to experience free, creative workshop classes from their local Schoolhouse.
Along with its incredibly smart computing, the programme also immerses thousands of students with its pioneering and engaging careers education.
Via the supply of over 5,000 PC codes to 52 schools, the full suite of Discovery Tour releases will cover the likes of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and, more recently, the Viking Age; these will be integrated into lessons to influence, motivate, and educate pupils on cultural history.
As part of the deployment, Digital Schoolhouse will aspire to work with teachers in numerous topics, including History, Computing, English and Art in order to see how cross-curricular teaching can be made even better by the use of the Discovery Tour.
The Discovery Tour is a committed franchise that allows visitors to freely roam around these historical time periods, in order to learn more about the history of the place or time, as well as being able to see a rendering of daily life.
Anyone can use the Tours to explore different eras and historical events; teachers, non-gamers, students, frequent gamers and more can utilise this amazing tool in order to witness older life.
Whether you wish to explore the Tour at your own pace, or go on a guided tour – created by historians and experts – the Discovery Tour is a uniquely fun way to see different time periods and witness people who lived long before us.
The Assassin’s Creed educational expansion will take place today (October 19th, 2021), with the release of Discovery Tour: Viking Age, which will highlight the Viking are, and pave the way for players to learn even more about the traditions and livelihood of that exciting era.
Players will be able to step into the shoes of Viking and Anglo-Saxon characters from that time period, while traversing through different stories and adventures.
This (non-violent) interactive learning experience was designed while working closely with historians and archaeologists, and aims to provide an immersive, interesting way to look at history.
Discovery Tour: Viking Age will be free for all owners of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and will be available on the same platforms as the main game. The PC standalone version of Discovery Tour: Viking Age will be available via Ubisoft Connect and on the Epic Games Store for £16.99.
For the very first time in the Discovery Tour franchise, Discovery Tour: Viking Age will also release as a standalone on Stadia, Luna, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X early next year (2022).
