Sonic The Hedgehog is a video game icon, and has been since his first ever game which released back in 1991. From that point, the Blur Blue has only increased his popularity and become somewhat of a legend in the gaming world. After decades of Sonic outings, it seems the hero isn’t done yet...
Sonic Frontiers was unveiled yesterday (December 9th, 2021) at The Game Awards 2021, by SEGA. The upcoming game will be the franchise’s first ever open-zone-inspired gaming experience.
Takashi Iizuka, Creative Officer at Sonic Team USA, stated that “Sonic Frontiers is a huge leap forward for the franchise, delivering an evolved gameplay experience that can be enjoyed by long-time Sonic fans and action-adventure enthusiasts alike.
“With the effort of the talented developers at Sonic Team Japan we’ve created an all-new style of gameplay experience for Sonic the Hedgehog, where players will be able to explore lush and expansive landscapes with Sonic’s signature speed and abilities.
“There’s sure to be lots of twists and turns around every corner in Sonic Frontiers, and we’re excited to unveil more information about the game over the coming months.”
The reveal of Sonic Frontiers came with a fantastic, adrenaline-pumping trailer, which gave Sonic fans a glimpse of the forthcoming action-adventure game.
For the longest time, the Sonic games have been linear in style. Players have been given levels to complete in a bid to finish the game: but not this time. Sonic is set to have his own open world adventure, which will be a brand-new ‘frontier’ for the upcoming title.
Worlds will be colliding in Sonic’s newest adventure, and it looks as though it has the potential to be an experience like never before for Sonic fans and gaming audiences alike.
Accelerate to new heights and be a part of the thrilling high-velocity adventure with open-zone freedom. Players will battle powerful enemies whilst exploring Starfall Islands, landscapes that are filled with beautiful, dense forests, enchanting waterfalls, scorching deserts, and so much more!
The trailer for Sonic Frontiers showcases the title’s stunning graphics and genuinely beautiful landscapes. It shows Sonic exploring the magical worlds he has at his glove-tips, and it seems that he is not alone: what enemies will the iconic blue Hedgehog be facing?
Sonic Frontiers is set to release in the holiday season of 2022, on both current and next-gen consoles.
