As much as we might have tried to fight it, there is no denying that mobiles form the centre of many of our lives. From simple communication devices to hubs of our digital and social worlds, the advantages of these pocket-sized wonders are vast and only growing. Despite how important these have become, however, it can be easy to take them for granted.

Rather than writing a full-length novel on the concept, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at standout illustrations of how far they've come from one central example: online casinos. From limitations and frustrations to streamlined simplicity, here are just a couple of demonstrations of how far they've come.

Software Adaption

Arguably one of the biggest weakness of mobiles has tied into how they offer their software. Ideally, apps should allow users to quickly jump between the likes of PC and mobiles quickly and easily, but this has not traditionally been the case. Originally, mobile software translations were slow, unwieldy, and even frustrating to use.

In the modern age, emphasis on evolving designs and touch-interfaces have eliminated large portions of this problem. Online casino games are one of the strongest examples of this, owing to how well their interfaces translate to simple touch controls. Whether spinning in slots games, collecting a hand with poker, or marking a digital card with bingo, online casinos represent the concept of translation without compromise. Essentially, there is no downside to using mobiles in these systems, which is an ideal that many types of software aspire to.

Modern Web Design Principals

The other side of the input equation comes from the design of websites. Much like with software, browsing and using websites on mobiles used to be an exercise in frustration and futility. In some cases, older websites would perform so poorly as to be functionally unusable. Eventually, dedicated separate websites for mobile versions started to alleviate this problem. With recent evolutions in HTML5, however, the issue has been nearly eliminated.

For an example of this, consider this online casino reviews website. Offering comparisons between some of the biggest names in the business, the website offers information on bonuses, special features, terms and conditions and more. Rather than relying on an entirely different set of pages to accomplish this feat, it utilizes modern HTML to create one singular translatable page over all devices.

Interestingly, pages like these can even illustrate a change in direction for web-design. Rather than starting from PCs and then moving to mobile, pages are now increasingly being built initially for mobile, and then scaled up to laptop or desktop devices.

Living in the Future

As far as mobiles have come, it can be difficult to appreciate their evolution. Taking place over so many years, the development is something we know occurs on an intellectual level, but which we fail to notice from day-to-day. If you take a step back though, you can gain a much greater appreciation of our progress. Online casinos might illustrate a great example of this, but they’re far from the only one around.

If you still have an old mobile lying around, trying digging it out and going online with it. Then get annoyed, give up, and come back with a greater appreciation of the convenience which we now have at our fingertips. You might not have realised it, but you live in the future, and mobiles are the perfect of example of how far we’ve come.
