Today (April 15), Activision have announced a pair of brand new Ghostbusters video games set and inspired by the world of the forthcoming movie, settling in cinemas on July 15.
Taking place after the new movie's events, both of the gaming titles will introduce a new cast of rookies who keep watch over the station, whilst the now-famous Ghostbusters tour the country in a bid to stop high-profile poltergeists.
Despite being new to the job, the rookies are forced to get on their proton packs and wrestle rogue spirits back to the places they came from when paranormal phenomena is unleashed across New York City.
On consoles, Ghostbusters is a third-person action role-playing game perfect for co-operative play with up to four players locally. Players will be given the opportunity to rank up their gear and abilities by taking down objectives, defeating the paranormal and discovering collectibles in Manhattan, with four separate heroes to choose from. Each hero will have their own unique play style and personality.
Meanwhile, the mobile game, Ghostbuster: Slime City will allow players to be a Ghostbuster and save New York City from a new wave of threats. Asynchronous co-operative play allows gamers to team up and collect powerful ghosts to rise to the top of the leaderboards, with players also able to craft their own proton packs, upgrade their headquarters and complete jobs around the city for special rewards.
Ghostbusters the console game arrives on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC via Steam on July 15 in Europe. Ghostbusters: Slime City is expected to launch in July on select iPhone, iPad and iTouch devices via the App store, select Android devices via Google Play and select Kindle devices through the Amazon Appstore.
