Go for a walk
Fresh air, new scenery and some easy exercise is good for the soul. It may be cold out but once you get out and brave the chill, you’ll soon warm up. Going for a walk is a great way to clear your head.
When all you want to do is stay in bed and not face the world, going for a walk is often the last thing you want to do. But nobody ever regrets a nice stroll, as long as you don’t stand in any dog poo!
Use a face mask
The classic ‘I’m going to put this face mask on and when I take it off, I’ll be another person’ is many people’s go-to pick me up. There’s a reason for that - it works!
You can buy them for less than a pound, so it’s a cheap and easy way to do some self-care. If you feel refreshed, you’ll have a fresh outlook on life. What’s stopping you from giving it a try?
Eat your favourite meal
So what if you promised yourself a health-kick in the new year? If you have had a rough, long or boring day that’s left you feeling drained, eating your favourite meal can be the light at the end of the tunnel when you’re down in the dumps.
Whether it’s a meal from your favourite takeaway, a big Sunday lunch or chicken dippers and chips, if it makes you feel good, you deserve it!
Treat yourself
A little bit of retail therapy never harmed anyone. You don’t have to go crazy and buy the entire Spring/Summer collection from Zara, it could just be a nice pair of fluffy bed socks you can look forward to wearing that night. Little comforts are what we all need to keep us going sometimes, so if you think those pyjamas will make everything better – buy them!
Watch a funny film
They do say that laughter is the best medicine. Picking out your favourite comedy or watching a new one is the best way to have a good giggle.

Surround yourself with people who will cheer you up
If you want to shut the world out this one might not be for you, but for those who thrive of socialising, meeting up with the people who make you laugh is the perfect way to shake off a bad mood.
Have an early night
Sleep. Tomorrow is another day. Allowing the body more rest time than usual will aid waking up with a fresh outlook on life.
Meditate
You don’t have to be a zen expert to meditate. There are so many free mindfulness apps out there – meditation has never been so easy. It doesn’t work for everyone but when it costs nothing there is no harm in giving it a try!
