While I didn't consult the cards with regards to who would win the leadership race, within minutes of Boris Johnson's victory I felt a strong pull to shuffle my trusty Tarot deck to see what we could expect over the next three years.

The Fool (reversed) + Nine of Wands

Minutes after referring to Boris Johnson as a "bumbling fool", I drew The Fool in the reversed position. When he's on his head, The Fool becomes foolish; idiotic and reckless, often with a desire to control so much that nothing ever gets done. For confirmation, I drew the Nine of Wands and saw a certain stubbornness in the face of adversity. No doubt Boris will face many challenges in the coming months, but he's determined to stand his ground, even if he fails to deliver on his Brexit promise for October 31st.

Eight of Cups + Eight of Pentacles

The eights are all about determination and having the power to overcome challenges, but, ultimately, the Eight of Cups reflects walking away from something that will have a strong emotional impact on a lot of people. It's quite clear to me that this represents Brexit, especially in combination with the Eight of Pentacles which is all about hard work in the practical sense. Workers rights are likely to be affected in a big way as we depart the EU, as well as employment in general.

Eight of Wands + Strength

Suddenly a lot more positive. We see rapidly changing events that demand quick and capable action with the Eight of Wands, and in combination with the Strength card it seems that the right people will be ready to face whatever is ahead. This could be a general election with the arrival of a stronger leader, or it could be a nation of sudden unity after years of division. On the other hand, it could also be a warning of dramatic changes which require us all to have inner courage and the ability to think for ourselves.
