Dreaming about a tattoo can mean a multitude of things, and often, the meaning can change depending on who the tattoo was on, and what the tattoo was of.

Tattoos are a wonderful way for people of all cultures and races to express themselves, and are often referred to as works of art.
Given that many dreams are vivid and are often hard to make out, a dream about a tattoo is rather specific, suggesting that you should pay some mind to it.
Getting a tattoo can be, for many people, and fun and impulsive thought; If you are the one getting tattooed in your dream, it could be a good sign of your impulsive and headstrong nature.
However, if you were to have a general dream of a tattoo, it may suggest that you are bored with a relationship you have. If this is the case, then it may be worth it to explore any shared interests; if this does not work, it could mean that your relationship with this person may not work out.
On the other hand, dreaming about getting a tattoo can also mean that you have affected someone negatively in the past, or even recently. You should take this as a sign to be kind to everyone you meet, and try not to say the wrong thing as it may affect pre-existing relationships.
If you saw a tattoo clearly within your dream, on your own body, this infers that you feel as though you should swim against the current; it is a sign that you should move on from present events and you should do your best to move on.
More simply, if you dream about someone else getting a tattoo, than it can mean that you are rather absent-minded, and don’t appear to pay attention to your inward voices and can go through life with very little effort.
This can also be taken as a sign to grab life by the horns and take control; you should use your strongest traits to try and improve certain aspects of your life.
While a very rare and odd one, if your dream included an ex-partner getting a tattoo, then this might mean that they didn’t leave wit everything they owned; they may have left something behind, whether on purpose or otherwise, for you to find.
This unique type of dream could be suggesting that you should reach out to your former lover, as there might be more left to discuss.
