We definitely don't take each other for granted at all
Giuliana Rancic co-host E! News with Ryan Seacrest, works with Joan Rivers and Kelly Osbourne on Fashion Police, recently hosted Miss USA and done the coverage for E! on the Royal Wedding; and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
A lot of hard work had got Giuliana to where she is now, and she has no plans to stop at all now.
She speaks to us about the new series of Giuliana and Bill - the hit reality TV series which follows her and her husband of nearly five years - her hopes of moving to London for a year and why she will never take her relationship for granted.
You where recently over here in London, reporting on the Royal Wedding, how was that?
Oh, fantastic. I went to London about six or seven years ago, with a boyfriend, that, well we didn't have the best relationship while we were there. So I always had bad memories of London and everyone was saying 'no no no, you've got to give it another shot'. So I went again and it was amazing. It exceeded my expectations, it had so much character the buildings are just stunning, the nightlife was fantastic, the restuarants. I had the best time, I kept on telling Bill 'We have to find a reason to live here for a year, because this is the coolest city'.
So what did you think about the wedding?
Oh it was beautiful. It was such an honour to be a part of it too, you know to be there reporting on it. We really don't have anything quite like that here in the US so I just thought it was amazing. They just add so much to the monarchy in terms of getting people re-interested in it. They're really re-invigorating the monarchy with their youth and just for the fact that they're very real. I think they're perfect.
Obviously the press have picked up on the Duchess, mainly because of her style...
Oh I think she is just fantastic, she was just here in Canada and the US. I mean there is a lot of pressure, with these millions and millions of eyeballs watching you seeing what you're fashion choices are and I think she done a great job of getting dressed everyday, stepping out in things that were both fit for a queen and were young and fresh. She done a beautiful job emulating that.
So, we have the new reality series with you and Bill, what's going on?
Well you know last series was a really tough series. I mean we went through a miscarriage and we were trying to have a baby through IVF cycles that didn't work, it was just a really heavy sad season. So Bill finally said, let;'s just take some time off and do everything that we couldn't do if we had a baby. So we're having the year of fun. Which means, sleeping in late, picking up and taking off for the weekend, we went to Italy for two weeks recently. You know just drinking lots of wine, staying out late, it's really, really nice just re-connecting and having fun again.
Will you start trying again for a baby soon?
I definitely think it will happen again. We will, but now quite just yet.
You're planning on opening a restaurant the both of you (Guiliana and Bill), how's that going?
My mother is a fantastic cook, and when she comes to town, people line up outside, I'm not kidding, to get her food. When she comes she brings huge home-made lasanges to eat, for the guys and she's just an amazing cook. So we're opening a restuarant based on Momma DePandi's recipes, and we're trying to figure out if it's going to be called Momma DePandi's or are we going to call it something else and have her recipes. It's going very well, right now we're deciding if it's going to be in LA or Chicago. Because in Chicago they're heartier eaters that's for sure. As Bill says, they eat only Tofu and salad in LA. So it doesn't make for the best place to open an Italian restuarant. You see that in the season, that we're trying to decide where to open it there is a lot about the restaurant throughout the season.
Bill has now moved to LA from Chicago, so what's it been like like in such close quarters?
Excellent, we're having such a good time. I mean this morning I woke up and I heard Bill say something and I thought 'Oh My God! He's here'. I got so excited. We just have the best time, when we're living together especially. It's been really great, no complaints. We definitely don't take each other for granted at all, because we started in a long-distance relationship. So to wake up in the same bed together is just lovely.
You recently hosted Miss USA, how exciting was that for you?
That was actually so much fun, it's going to be on the new episodes of the show, we show the behind-the-scenes of that. It was excellent. I competed in the pageant when I was younger and I lost. I always dreamed of being on the Miss USA stage becuase I competed at the local level, the state level. So to be on the national stage, even as a host was really remarkable.
Are you hoping to do next years too?
Yes. I would love to do it again. Miss Universe is coming up in Brazil, and that's coming up in September - that would be fun. But, you know, if I could help out in any capacity I would. I thought it was a great experience.
So what do you have coming up next for you then?
Right now, I'm focusing a lot on Fashion Police, which we shoot every week. It's been an incredible experience. Joan Rivers is just a remarkable woman, I mean she kills me, when I leave the set my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. We have the new season (of Giuliana and Bill). We have E! News which I shoot everyday and I love doing that. I have a clothing line, that's coming out in January for the Home Shopping Network online - that's going to be a blast too, it's going to be clothing for women as well as handbags.
