Sofia Vergara feels her sacrifices were "worthwhile" when people praise her son.
The 43-year-old actress split from first husband Joe Gonzalez in 1993, the year after their child Manolo was born, and she has always done her best to raise him to be kind, polite and well-behaved, so is thrilled when the young man's temperament is complimented.
She told People magazine: "Every time people compliment me about my son, Manolo, it is very rewarding.
"I was really young when I divorced his father, so I raised him trying to set the best example and give him the best that I could.
"When people compliment me on him, on how well mannered, how charming, funny and well-behaved he is, it makes all the sacrifices worthwhile."
The 'Modern Family' star recently admitted she is keen to have a child with new husband Joe Manganiello, 39, but is aware it is unlikely to happen naturally.
She said: "I wouldn't mind another child, my husband is younger than me and he wants kids so we're trying to figure out what we're going to do.
"The idea of doing it all again doesn't scare me but, hey, it's not like it's going to happen naturally, is it?"
