Sofia Vergara would sell her expensive handbags to pay for her son's university education.
The 41-year-old actress - who has 21-year-old son, Manolo, with ex-husband Joe Gonzalez - is eager for her offspring to have the best education possible and admits she would do anything to help him, even if it means parting with her prized Hermes Birkin accessories.
She said: "I tell Manolo, 'If I don't have enough money for your college this month, you have to sell the Birkins.' My business manager is very traditional, Jewish guy. Every time I buy one of those, he calls me and says, 'Sofia, it's Craig. Did you buy this, or is it a fraud?'
"I'm like, 'Craig, listen, what would you prefer? Me popping champagne bottles and doing drugs and wasting money, or buying bags? These are valuable. These, Manolo can sell!' "
Although the busty beauty has won critical acclaim and several Emmy Award nominations for her role as Gloria Pritchett in hit sitcom 'Modern Family', she admits she never thought she could act and is surprised she is able to make a living from her talent.
In an interview with the new US edition of Harper's Bazaar magazine, Sofia - who is engaged to Nicholas Loeb, 37 -said: "I never thought I could act, or acting was for me. I've never been artistic. I always knew I was funny; I was the class clown, but I never thought to make money out of it or to be professional."
