The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran has bandmate Max George after he claimed rows within the group drove them apart.
Siva, 25, believes his bandmate's comments were "uncalled for" after Max publicly revealed tensions between the five boy band members influenced their decision to split after their upcoming tour.
Max also revealed he intended to pursue a solo career and try to break into acting, despite initial claims the split would be temporary.
In an interview with the MailOnline website, Siva said: "We had no idea, literally because we had all released a statement and that was what we had agreed on. It was a shock and uncalled for.
"It was quite a shock to have that recent article come out from Max, for me and the fans because we found out at the same time."
The group - Max, Siva, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes - called time on their four-year pop career earlier this month, releasing a statement on their website revealing they will temporarily split to "pursue personal endeavours" following their upcoming 'Word Of Mouth' shows.
However, Siva insists it wasn't the group's personal lives which led to tensions, as Max had claimed, and things began to break down shortly after filming their E! reality show 'The Wanted Life'.
He explained: "I think it's untrue and very unfair. I think from doing the TV show we all kind of knew where we stood and from that I felt like there was some sense of ... I felt like it was every man for himself looking back on when the show aired. I think that is where we lost the team element and from there it kind of just went."
