The 52-year-old actor stars alongside a canine co-star called Ukai in the new action-adventure film, and Mark has admitted to developing a strong bond with the pooch.

The Hollywood star told PEOPLE: "Oh my God, I tried to bribe the trainer to sell me the dog. I offered her whatever she would want. But, of course, that bond is not something that you can separate. I just fell in love with him."

Mark and Ukai developed a real "connection" during their time together on set.

He said: "I was amazed by how close we got and our connection. So, of course, I wanted him."

However, Mark was ultimately unable to taken Ukai home with him.

The actor added: "I completely understood ... I took a shot."

Mark began shooting 'Arthur the King' before the COVID-19 pandemic, and he also tore his meniscus on the first day of the shoot.

At one stage, Mark even feared that the movie might have to be cancelled altogether.

He recently told 'Entertainment Tonight': "I just felt like, you know, it took a long time to get the movie off the ground and we were in the middle of COVID, and if I had shut it down, I don't know if we would've got it up and running again.

"So I just kind of toughed it out and I found different ways of getting through."

Mark worked out relentlessly before the cameras started rolling - but his efforts "went out the window" because of his meniscus tear.

The actor said: "You want to pay attention to the small stuff and you want to look the part.

"Unfortunately, I tore my meniscus the first day, so all my training went out the window."
