Kimberley Walsh has been tested for gestational diabetes.
The 32-year-old star, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Justin Scott, underwent a precautionary examination amid concerns she could develop the condition - which affects the processing of insulin - during her pregnancy.
She said: "Last week I had a glucose screening test for gestational diabetes. It's not routinely done on the NHS but lots of practitioners think it should be, as it's a condition that can be managed so it doesn't affect the baby.
"The only way of knowing if you have it is to do the test; you drink a large glass of Lucozade within five minutes, wait an hour and have a blood test to see how the sugar affects you. If necessary they do further tests over three hours, so I'll have to wait and see."
Thankfully for the former Girls Aloud singer, she has no other medical complications stemming from her pregnancy, now in its sixth month.
She added: "Other than that I've had an easy time - no heartburn or back pains - but the baby moves so much now!"
Kimberley also revealed she has received numerous comments on her "neat" baby bump from pals, who think she's having a boy based on its shape.
She explained in her column for Britain's OK! magazine: "Everyone comments on the shape of it - it's quite a neat bump and it comes out quite far, so everyone's like, 'It's definitely a boy!' That's the old wives' tale, but I know people who've carried like this and had girls. It's 50/50 at the end of the day, so it's going to be a total surprise!"
