JoJo lost her virginity when she was just 14.
The ‘Leave (Get Out)’ hitmaker rose to fame with the hit single at the age of 13, and has now admitted she reached another huge milestone in her life, having sex for the first time, just one year later.
Speaking to actress Sarah Hyland, YouTube star Simmi Singh, and OB/GYN to the stars Dr. Sherry Ross on a new episode of the Ellen Original series ‘Lady Parts’, she said: “I’m lucky I think because I knew how to make myself orgasm around the time that I started having sex. I lost my virginity just before I was 15, so I was 14. I don’t know why I say that. I was 14.”
To which Sarah added: “I do the same thing. I lost my virginity at 15, but I always say, it was right before my 16th birthday.”
And the 29-year-old singer also confessed to having been “masturbating for quite a while” before losing her virginity at a young age, but insisted she feels “lucky” to have done so, because she knew what to expect from sex.
She explained: “I had already been masturbating for quite a while at that point. That’s not to say that every partner got me off or anything, but I always knew what it could end in. I feel mad lucky.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Simmi revealed she was 22 when she lost her virginity.
Meanwhile, JoJo recently said she “abstained” from sex for a year to help her learn how to be “on her own”.
The ‘Comeback’ singer chose not to have sex for 12 months because she had been relying on the “safety net” of having a partner since she was a teenager, and wanted to learn to be independent.
She said: “[I’ve] been in relationships from the age of 14. I never really had to think about being abstinent because I was just in a relationship. I’ve always had a boy in my life and I’ve always had that safety net, whether it was real or not. I’ve always, kind of never truly been on my own. So it was an exercise that I wanted to put myself through, and I’m so glad I did.”
