Giuliana Rancic's "disgustingly skinny" figure is a result of cancer-suppressing medication.
The 40-year-old presenter - who underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 - has seen her slender frame be the subject of much scrutiny in recent months, but she insists there is "nothing" she can do after her oncologist admitted side-effects of a drug she takes include weight loss and altered metabolism.
She said: "I started noticing that I was eating a lot, but not gaining weight at all. I was concerned.
"[The criticism is] really hurtful. I'm sorry that some people think I'm disgustingly skinny, as they put it, but there's nothing I can do. I'm lucky that I even have the type of cancer that reacts to the medicine."
Giuliana - who has two-year-old son Duke with husband Bill Rancic - admits the changes to her body are hard to accept.
She told People magazine: "I look in the mirror and it's hard for me.
"I am really thin. I want to look fit and beautiful and sexy, and I can't."
But the 'Fashion Police' star insists she won't let the negative comments upset her too much.
She said: "I never want my weight to distract people from what I do. But it is becoming a distraction, [whenever] I wear something sleeveless, show my arms, my back...
"I refuse to be broken [by what people say]... I have so many beautiful things in my life."
However, she was left upset when a major publication backed out of featuring her because they thought she was "too skinny".
She admitted: "That was really hurtful. I thought, 'Wow, I'm on cancer medication. I'm doing the best that I can.' "
