Ella Eyre found it hard being around her boyfriend “constantly” during lockdown.
The 26-year-old singer has been in a relationship for four years, and although the couple moved in together two years ago, they often make sure they have their own space, and spend time alone as well as together.
But when the coronavirus pandemic struck earlier this year, Ella and her beau were forced to spend more time together as neither of them were heading off to work, and the singer admitted she found it “really hard” being around him all the time.
She said: “I have always liked my own space, so being locked down with my partner was difficult. I’ve been in a relationship for four years and we’ve lived together for two, but being with somebody constantly was really hard. I learned a lot about myself, communication and patience - I’m not a very patient person.”
The ‘Just Got Paid’ hitmaker wasn’t mean to her boyfriend though, as she always follows the advice of her mother, who told her to “be nice to everybody”.
She added: “My mum’s advice has always been to be nice to everybody. I think it’s so important to be present with people and give them your full attention. That can be hard when you’re speaking to hundreds of people a day and you can get pretty tired by the end, but it’s something I always aim to do.”
And as the coronavirus continues to spread, Ella confessed her only goal for 2021 is to “stay alive”.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday’s Fabulous magazine, she explained: “The only plan I have for the next year is to stay alive. Everyone is going through something different, and everyone’s suffered and been impacted [by the events of this year] some way. All this has highlighted that spending time with people you care about is really vital.”
