Cheryl Cole has learned not to make plans.

The 'Crazy Stupid Love' hitmaker, who divorced husband Ashley Cole in September 2010 after four years of marriage, was stunned when her personal life unravelled, particularly because she always expected to be the first member of Girls Aloud to have children, so now no longer has expectations for the future.

She said: "I thought I had every box ticked, career and personal. I was the first to get married. I was the one everyone thought would be the first to have a baby. And then the rug got pulled out from under me. I've learned that there is no such thing as a plan. You can't make them. I'm just enjoying finding out who I am. That's good enough right now."

Despite her experiences, Cheryl, who admits she "wasn't right in the head" when she was sacked from the US version of 'The X Factor' in 2011, feels "lucky" because she grown stronger as a result.

She added in an interview with Britain's ELLE magazine: "I know I'm really lucky because none of what I've been through broke me. It actually taught me everything I'm going to need for the rest of my life. I love feeling that I'm strong because I have good women at my side. And I don't give a **** what people think any more."

In February, Cheryl's former bandmate Nadine Coyle became the first member of the group to become a mother when she and Jason Bell welcomed daughter Anaiya into the world, while Kimberley Walsh is also expecting her first child with partner Justin Scott.
