Not knowing
is harder to build on
than people expect.
Sowing seeds
because you're expected to carry on
has no logic.
Lucidity is grounded in the knowledge of what will come.
For now, it's floating and spinning
clinging to any obstacle;
often shrugged off
because the senseless
doesn't want to be made sense of.
A bowl of ice cream or rice
can't talk back
or push your feelings away.
but when the bowl is emptied
memories of feeling empty persist
and motion is reset.
You clasp at threads
of who you thought you were
and what it all should mean.
In that darkness
all that grow are roots,
useful for others to feed on
while you remain un-nourished,
because a future is your food.
