Cost - Traditional white weddings tend to come with a hefty price tag by the time you've included, the dress, flowers, venue, photographer, suits and food- to name a few. A lot of couples would rather channel all their money into a property that will last them for the rest of their lives together, rather than one day.
Stress - With a white wedding comes expectation- although brides and grooms try to do their own thing and ignore what others want form the day- there is a pressure to please everyone- not just the two people getting married.
Hassle of arranging - There's so much to think about- from deposits, to bookings, table arrangements to budgets. It's overwhelming and some couples aren't prepared to devote so much time and effort to just 24 hours of their lives.
Don't have a big family - It seems silly to have a big wedding when your family and friends only amount to a few people. Better to dial it down and have something more modest and in keeping with the amount of guests who will be attending.
Don't like family/family issues - Some couples know from experience that getting their two families together only ends in tears. Others have issues within their own family unit that's bound to ruin their big day. There are a number of couples who aren't prepared to pay for family and friends they haven't seen in ages just to get bums on seats.
Don't' like being centre of attention - Shyness can be crippling and if the bride or the groom (or both) don't like being in the middle of all the action- it seems ludicrous that they would themselves into a situation they are going to feel uncomfortable in.
