December is the most popular time to propose, so if you need to find your partner’ ring size and quick- Meetville have come up with some top tips to get it just right!
Drop hints:
61% of men consult their partner before selecting a ring for her- so perhaps try and gauge if she is a gold or silver kind of woman or if she is like 52% of brides who would wear a coloured stone. And don’t forget shape- 56% of women say this is the most important aspect of a ring- so you need to find out if she wants it round, square, heart shaped…. the list goes on. Her other jewellery is a great indicator of this.
If your partner wears a ring or multiple rings:
If your partner is anything like my friends, she will have many rings to her name that she keeps stashed away in her jewellery box. Take note of the ones she wears on her fourth finger- as this will be the right size for her engagement ring. Remember that in ancient cultures, the fourth finger is believed to have a vein called the Vena Amoris which runs directly to the heart- so don’t get it wrong! If you can steal one of the appropriately sized rings for a day, the jeweller will measure it up for you and tell you what letter you need to order.
What if they will notice it gone?
If they keep close tabs on their jewellery and tend to rotate their collection each week- leaving you little or no time to take it away without her suspicion, then imply press it into a bar of soap or trace it onto a piece of paper.
If your partner does not wear rings:
Ask her friends or family if they know what size ring she wears- you never know- they might have this intimate knowledge from a prior ring related occasion. If they are a heavy sleeper, then measure their finger with string while they are sleeping and there you have it!
If all else fails- you could propose without a ring and go ring shopping together so she gets to wear exactly what she wants. There is no element of surprise but at least she won’t resent you for buying her an ugly ring.
