Prague or Portsmouth? Paintballing or private gentlemen's club?
Stag season is fast approaching. If you've been named the best man, there's a lot of work to be done to pull off a top night out.
With so much to organise, you're going need some help to make sure the party goes to plan. No one wants to replicate The Hangover and lose their groom on the roof of Caesar's Palace!
Below are a few pointers to help you avoid disaster - you don't want to be known as the guy that tanked the stag's final send off.
Who makes the cut? First thing, you need to know is who's coming. Obviously his closest mates will make the list straight away, but is this the sort of stag do that the groom is going to want his dad-in-law at? You can always suggest doing two stag dos - one for family, and then one for friends where the groom can get the full send off he deserves.
Choosing the date - Sounds simple but it is important to sort out a date early on so that you can start booking hotels, restaurants and possibly, flights. But organising three friends can be a nightmare, let alone getting 20+ lads to agree on one day they're all free. Luckily, there are some fantastic tools out there, like Doodle, which allow you to set up an event online, add all your possible dates and then easily send the invitation link to the guys. All they have to do is then select the times they're available and the app works out the best time for everyone and notifies you - leaving more time to plan the bar crawl!
Sorting the budget - Make sure you have a budget that everyone is OK with before you start planning a week long trip to Vegas! While a Vegas send off may be top of the list, if it prices some of the guys out of the party, then it won't be the same. Apps like Paym also make it really simple for all the guys to pay you back - they can simply text you the money.
Prague or Portsmouth? Getting the location right! Will the stag be happy going down the local or will he want to graze a bit further afield? Where ever you go make sure you research first - TripAdvisor is great for getting honest reviews. It also never hurts to check out Groupon to see if there are any really great deals that you might not ordinarily be able to afford - maybe you can afford that trip to Vegas after all!
Keeping yourself occupied - What's the plan?! You're the one in charge and people are expecting you to give the best man an epic send off. Red 7 is a great website for countless activity ideas. You could also use Pindex to plan all the bars you want to tick off on your night - you can put as many bars/clubs on it so you won't be caught short if one turns out to be a dud.
